Once in a while we get out of the school grounds and are able to travel around Tarawa. We see a lot of dogs all over the island. They do not appear to have owners and just roam around, going wherever they like. They seem to like to go to church and wander in and out of the meetings. They like to sleep outside the doors or wherever they like. Many go around the island in packs but do not bother people. Sometimes they fight one another, but for the most part are ignored by the people.
We also see a lot of are pigs. The pigs are usually tied to trees by one foot. Often they have pens with ocean views.
