At the School

Following are some of the places we spend our time at the school.

One Saturday morning the dorm students divided up into teams and had a morning of competition. Marching, Tug of War and relay races.

Our grand daughter, Kaylee, helped collect patterns in Utah and had them sent here, because patterns are not available on the Island. They arrived and were opened in one of the Sewing classes.

Just another sunset.

The beaches in Kiribati sometimes have strange creatures on them.
Pigs are often on the beach but tied to a tree by one leg. And of course crabs.

Father's Day and Fishing

The Moroni Ward had a Father's Day party on June 14. There was entertainment, flowers around the neck and of course food. There is always food.

Following the food  it was time to make the Fathers do foolish games and of course there was competition. And with competition came cheating, but it was all in good fun. It was determined that the prize for the winning team was not deserved so it went to the sisters.

Our house is very close to the ocean and the view though always the same is always different.

Often we can watch the fishermen from our back yard. Sometimes they use a long net to surround the fish and then use a dip net to scoop them up. They don't appear to be very big fish. The larger fish are caught farther out in the ocean in the deeper water.

Trip to a Garden

We were amazed to see this place.  It was set back in a gated area.  It is called the Taiwanese Garden and run by the Taiwanese government.  We haven't learned what they do with the produce yet.  There were vegetables, pigs, and chickens.  The facility was very clean compared to most places.

These are just places to see near the garden.  The stop light was someones yard decoration.  It's probably the only one on the island.
