Visit to North Tarawa

From Bairiki

to North Tarawa and then back

Day Trip

We were able to go with the APs and the Waldrens to North Tarawa.  The missionaries where making a transfer.  This was about a 45 minute ride across the lagoon. On the day we went it was very calm and peaceful.  You can't drive there but you can walk.  It is about a 4 hours walk,  if you are in good physical shape.  Part of the walk includes wading from island to island.  The water varies in depth, depending on the tide.

Elder Adolf Johansson and Elder Gifford Nielsen came to Kiribati to redo the Stake Presidency for the Tarawa East Stake.  They were able to travel to some of the outer islands, attend a Cultural Event, have dinner with the senior missionaries, and preside at Stake Conference.  As well as interview and act with direction from the Lord and the First Presidency in calling a new Stake President.
