Sea Shells and Footprints

Sea Shells
And holes in sand
birds were here also the dog

living

Below the tide is out, as birds walk the shoreline.
Left is an electrical cable that powers the Moroni Campus. They may have a problem when they try to bury it. But then again the road is coming and everything will be dug up anyway.

The last of the Coconut trees that lined the road outside the Moroni Campus have been removed, as they give way to the new road that is creeping across the island.

Building small houses in the shop.
Finishing up the chicken apartment complex by the agriculture students. Still no chickens.

Battle with the Sea

Ocean
the tide rises
and attacks the sea wall
with shovel and sand and cement
Push Back

The effect of the ocean at high tide causes many problems with the roads on South Tarawa.
Repairs to the causeway and the road are a constant need.
The picture below show the road at high tide on the east end of the Island.
The pictures above show the more rural part of South Tarawa.

How do you get the students to a school activity? Put a few students in a pickup truck.
Good friends, Elder and Sister Wall reached the end of their Mission to Kiribati. We wish them good fortune as they return to their family and friends.

special people celebrating
Sisters

The Relief Society celebrated its Birthday here in Kiribati also.  After a program in the chapel the sisters moved to the cultural hall where each ward performed a dance from a different island.  Moroni Ward learned a dance from Hawaii.  Cakes were decorated and shared along with a luncheon.

Changes

Changes
to Tarawa
are creeping and crawling
and at the same time racing in
Paradox

The road being built by the Australians was working its way from the east and from the west toward Moroni High School, the first indication that is was approaching was the removal of trees at the edge of the road. Then all of a sudden the road work came to a halt and the Australian Company building it disappeared from the island. The equipment is still here but the work has halted.

But the sun still rises and the sun still sets. Life goes on as though nothing changes.
