Changes

Changes
to Tarawa
are creeping and crawling
and at the same time racing in
Paradox

The road being built by the Australians was working its way from the east and from the west toward Moroni High School, the first indication that is was approaching was the removal of trees at the edge of the road. Then all of a sudden the road work came to a halt and the Australian Company building it disappeared from the island. The equipment is still here but the work has halted.

But the sun still rises and the sun still sets. Life goes on as though nothing changes.

Scenes from Tarawa

Island of contrast
Things growing and decaying
Of nature and man

Above are scenes from Buota and Temaiku which are on the east end of South Tarawa. The white building is the Temaiku LDS Chapel.

The building above is on the Moroni School Campus between the buildings. The other pictures are taken in Buota.
These are taken in Betio.

Service

Goodbye
cause for party
thanks to you for leaving
You being here was good for us
So Long

John Millar, the TVET director, is retiring.  He came one last time to Kiribati with Ameet Kumar his replacement. John will be missed.  He was the start of the TVET Program in the Church Pacific Schools. To show their thanks the school had a going away celebration for him and the dental team that came for three weeks and did free service for all the missionaries, and those getting ready for missions as well as the teachers, staff and students.
